I’ve been downloading many softwares for the past few years. There are lots of friends asking me for softwares too. It’s time to share with you the softwares I use.
Anti-Spyware/Adware/Malware
SpywareBlaster - [link] (Beginner)
SpywareBlaster doesn’t run in the background, and that’s the best thing for a lag-free system. With Spyware Blaster, you’ll only see the ‘good side‘ of the web.
Spybot - Search & Destroy - [link] (Beginner)
Spybot - Search & Destroy, named for what it does - Searching and destroying spywares. Don’t forget to immunize your system after doing a thorough scan!
HijackThis (Hijack This) - [link] (Beginner-Advanced)
HijackThis analyses, scans and generates a log file for your computer. It doesn’t target any adware/malware/spywares and that means you have to analyse from the logs and delete what you think is affecting your system. Use with care - use it if you know what you’re doing.
Anti-virus
NOD32 - [link] - $39 (1 year) / $58.50 (2 years)
NOD32 has received praises from reviewers all over the world! Not only that, it was awarded several awards lately. It uses little memory but has a strong virus/threat detector. Definitely worth your $39.
I heard Kapersky is good but I haven’t got a copy for myself.
Firewall
ZoneAlarm PRO - [link] - [download] - $39.95 (Trial/FREE available)
I’m recommending ZoneAlarm PRO and not ZoneAlarm (Free). The difference is the ability to customize settings in the PRO version. ZoneAlarm PRO has identity and privacy protection allowing total security!
Note: ZoneAlarm is not compatible with Windows Vista yet. It will be, very soon!
System Maintainance
ioio System Mechanic® 7 - [link] - $49.95 (1 year) (Trial available)
System Mechanic keeps your system at top-tip condition. It can fix problems, boost performance, eliminate crashes and much more! Optimize, repair, and maintain your system with it.
Download Managers
Internet Download Manager - [link] - $29.95 (Trial available)
IDM (in short) can boost your download speed for you, allowing you to maximize your Internet bandwidth. It has a simple GUI and good integration with most(all) browsers.
Free Download Manager - [link] - FREE
FDM is one of the feature-rich download managers that is free.
LeechGet - [link] - Free for personal use
LeechGet has rich GUI (Looks like Microsoft Outlook) with good Intergration with browsers. It has more functions than many of the free download managers like DAP.
Media Player
Winamp 5 - [link] - FREE / $19.95 (PRO)
Winamp plays most of my media files and doesn’t use much resources. You don’t have to go PRO unless you need to rip/burn audio CDs. For me, I’m using Winamp Basic (FREE!).
VLC Media Player - [link] - FREE
VLC plays all my media files, VCDs and DVDs! I also use it for streaming. Most of my video files are watched with it.
These few softwares are the ones I run often. There are just too many softwares I’ve installed on my laptop. I shalln’t write too much about the softwares below.
