It’s Christmas once again and every year, I receive messages from friends asking me for gift suggestions for friends. This year, I’ve decided to do something different – creating a gift guide. And for following years, as long as the site is alive, I’ll be working on gift guides for the year. You may have noticed that I called it “Gadget Gift Guide 2010” and what you might be thinking next is – then how about my friends who are less techie or how about my girlfriends who don’t love gadgets as much? Not to worry about this since what I’ve got in the guide is almost for both sexes.

How did you generate the list?

I’d consider myself quite a geek, thus generating these goodies aren’t much trouble for me. All it took was a little time and thought. The items are either what I’ve used, or I’m using or what my closer friends recommended. For example, I’m using the Canon PowerShot S90 but there’s a newer (and improved) Canon PowerShot S95 out in the market.

You may have noticed that the items appear to be rather practical. Yes, they are and you should buy gifts that are practical. I’m not trying to say that you shouldn’t buy something impractical; I just felt that something usable would remind you of the person every time you use it.

Why Amazon when you reside in Singapore?

Most people residing in Singapore wouldn’t buy such gadgets/gifts from Amazon and have them shipped. But that doesn’t matter to me since Amazon offers one of the best online catalog for gifts. That way, I can easily combine the items together on one site. Since I cannot rely on Amazon Affiliates (or most affiliates) to support this site, The ads above and below this post is the main source of income.

Let me know in the comments if there are any other items you’d like to recommend or if you have any feedback. Feel free to contact me if you need more help.

hoyu

This is the 5th time I’m having my hair coloured within half a year and I’m really surprised that the condition of my hair is still good. Since it’s new year, I coloured my hair again to celebrate this festive season! But anyway, this isn’t the point. When I experience some good or bad service/product, I always would love to share them with you. Let me tell you more.

I believe the brand “hoyu” requires no much introduction. I’m pretty sure that millions and billions of people can’t be wrong which made “hoyu” one of the leading providers of hair colouring and hair care products around the world.

My experience with Hoyu products

Since July 2008, I’ve been getting my hair bleached, dyed and/or highlighted using hoyu products. First, I got myself blue colour. To get that, of course I’ll have to bleach my hair first. Sad (but not so sad since I expected it) to say, the colour faded off totally after a month. I am real surprised since the colour stayed for really long.

The following month, I did purple colour. I admit I do look like a peacock if I have my hair waxed up. Ha. Man, again the colour stayed for real long.

That’s not the whole point. I noticed that my hair isn’t at all dry after all the colouring and bleaching. Maybe because I use some products by hoyu (such as Shampoo, hair supli (supplement) & treatment). (Refer to photo above, I use the first 3 products!) Why do I have to go to a salon for hair treatment when I have products and can do them at home and save more money instead? Can you see at the time and money (treatment fees and travelling fare) that can be saved?

Anyway, why am I telling you so much since I don’t get paid by hoyu for writing these.

Where to get Hoyu products?

I recommend SensesCut at Far East Plaza #02-82 (Tel: 6235 0034) or at Block 26 New Upper Changi Road #01-672 (Tel: 6242 2431). I’ve tried their services before and can vouch for the quality of their work.

There are many other salons such as Professional Hair Salon (I lost their contact) but I’ve never tried them before and cannot say anything.

Disclaimer

I cannot assure that your hair will remain top tip condition after colouring/bleaching with hoyu’s products since everyone’s hair condition is different. But I’m pretty confident that it should be good for all (or most) hair.

[Do note that I am not paid (in terms of products/money) by hoyu for this review, neither am I related to hoyu’s boss. Ha.]

So, have you tried hoyu?
