Are you already using Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)?

intro_logo.jpg

This question may sound silly, but I believe not everyone is on SP2 yet.

windows-xp-sp2.PNGI happen to be using a friend’s workstation and discovered I couldn’t install Microsoft’s SQL Management Studio (SQL Server 2005). The main reason was because the workstation had only SP1 installed. Unable to do my work; totally disappointed, I was!

Why upgrade?

Microsoft gave us many reasons such as Proactive Protection, Compatibility, Improved Manageability, Windows Firewall, Blocking Pop-ups, Internet Explorer, Updates, Wireless, and more new technologies.

The few features I find useful:

Windows Firewall - I believe this is the most useful. Remember the Blaster worm a few years back? If you had your firewall turned on, you should be protected against it. We don’t know what’s coming up from hackers, but with the firewall, you should be kinda safe.

Pop-up Blocker - I personally find this quite useful. 4 out of 5 stars. Simple, pop-ups irritate and disturbs what I’m looking at. Just don’t like to close windows while looking at sites.

Wireless Internet made easy - Wireless networks can be discovered and managed with the friendly GUI. What I just did was double-click on my home’s wireless, set the 64-bit WEP network key and I’m in. Fast and easy, isn’t it?

Read more about the features

Windows XP SP3

SP3 is coming out very soon. Sometime within these few days. (According to sources) I’m not sure if you can upgrade to SP3 without going on SP2.

I’ve tried Windows XP Service Pack 3 Release Candidate 2, but didn’t notice any improvements. Maybe they’re just too transparent to me. Did SP3 just made more keys for Windows XP

Whatever, let’s just wait for an official release. Will Microsoft be late again?

Have you upgraded?

Are you already using Windows Vista? Or still on Windows XP? Service Pack 2? Or still SP1?

5 Ways to show that you love her

I’m in LOVE with 2008 and that’s why I decided to share with you some love tips! I’m not any love saint around but I know that with my heart, I can love someone. You can, too!

NOTE: I’m writing from a guy’s perspective. Ladies, do guide me if you think I’m wrong or if I’ve done well!

1. Tell her you love her
It doesn’t matter how you tell her you love her. You can choose from many ways of telling her. Making a call as compared to a short message (SMS) is very much sincere. An email or snail mail is as good too! Of course, you can tell her when you’re on a date with her, provided it’s not a long distance relationship.

Don’t tell me it sounds boring to always say "I love you". There are 101 ways of saying I love you; don’t be so dull. So think of the different ways to convey the message. Were you expecting that I might share some lines that I use? Don’t dream, put in effort if you love her.

2. Kiss and Hug her (more)
The keyword here is more.

Hug her tight. Make her feel secure with you. Don’t hug for the sake of hugging.

You can hug her on escalators and inside lifts. A hug and a kiss is alright, but don’t go too far.

DIsposable Email Address - 10 Minute Mail

10-minute-mail.png

Basket! Almost everything in the 21st century is disposable. Now, email addresses are disposable!

10 Minute Mail gives you a randomly generated email address for 10 minutes to do everything you have to. Feel free to extend the time if you think you need more.

Why would you need an email address for such a short time? People usually use the email to register on websites/forums that you think will bring them spam.

Do give 10minutemail a try. I gave the simple interface a try and yes, I received the emails I sent to myself. I burst into laughter when I was given an email address - xxxxx@gorillaswithdirtyarmpits.com - You didn’t expect it, right?

Warning : Virus on MSN

Becareful. There are several viruses spreading on MSN.

MSN is trying to filter some of the virus message links by blocking “.info” urls. But it won’t help them much.

There are files being passed around too - PhotoAlbum2007, etc.

You’re warned.
