I love the Mazda RX-8!
I haven’t written any proper blog entry for quite some time. The feelings just don’t exist for me to write anything! Something came to my mind that I feel IÂ should jot down.
After breakfast earlier today, dad brought us to a car dealer to look at cars! Guess he’s slowly looking for a new multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to replace mum’s Honda Odyssey which is 4 years old (Coming to 5 soon).
We were looking at Ipsum, Alphard, Harrier, Estima & Impul Murano until a silver Mazda RX-8caught my attention! Serious, that car looked damn prestigious! Pretty sure that dad will buy it if we’ve got space to park at home. I’ll put it as a poor man’s sports car!
I surely have my reasons for saying so:
- Costs only Ringgit Malaysia $150k or so. Which is around SGD$70k. Around US$40.
- Sports car at only 1.3L. Simply too weak for a sports car! How am I going to race? I’m going to be safe on the roads (Provided I don’t install a turbocharger in)!
- Automatic Transmission (AT)Â - I hate driving ‘manual’ cars. I’m going to love this car.
My views about getting a sports car which coss 400,000 EUROs remains - I’m not going to spend such a huge amount on a car when I can get myself a huge bungalow and not a moving house. Doh! Â
I conclude that if I were to find this car suitable for my living in the near future, I will get one. This sports car is really different. =)

1.3L Rotary Engine, not just any crap engine you find on every day cars. In terms of power, it is comparable to a 2.6L piston engine. Then again… 220-250bhp not powerful, imo. Good enough to zip thru everyday traffic, but not for racing. Wanna race, get something with 450bhp and above.
I also like this car, but I heard that if you’re driving this in Spore, its fuel consumption can kill you. Righto Goonie?
