Pay and Pay (PaP)
First, it was the increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) by 2% from 5 to 7%. Effected from July 2007, Singapore’s GST increased and everything increased. What pissed me off was McDonald’s Ice Cream Sundae Cone which costs 60 cents now; an increase of 10 cents which is 20% increase. Did tax increase by 20%? Nothing can be done - I’m only a commoner and can only rant here.
Now, Adult EZ-link fares for buses will increase. Damn. I don’t understand why polytechnic students have to pay adult fares but university students get to pay student fares. Is it fair to us? I firmly believe that university students work part time too, and should be able to afford adult travel fares. Or, are polytechnic students/students’ parents richer?
We’re all getting poorer. (Even if you aren’t, I am.)
Polytechnic students: It’s time we do something about this. Ask yourself, what have your school’s students’ union done for you?
