Readers, please comment on what I’ve done.

The details are here: blog entry

Let me summarize what I’ve done:

  • Some friends participated in Imagine Cup, a programming competition held yearly.
  • I sent them around 2000 votes through the voting system to boost their morale.
  • Total votes they’ve got is around 6500 (as of 10th June 2007) and the top team has 25,000 votes from their friends and family
  • That means, around 30% of the votes was by me.

How would you feel if you find out that not 6500 people voted, but I was the one behind supporting them? I hope to receive comments about this

First off, I’ve to thank you again for supporting us. IMHO, it’s not the numbers, but the heart that counts. I appreciate it, Felix. =D

And no worries, they will be in greater shock they another few thousands of votes were made by jon’s bot. =P

Lastly, I think this is rather a failed attempt for M$ to bring up this hype or “online-awareness” of this competition (that’s their main objective of this “People’s Choice” actually) and hence guess they won’t even bother to look through the thousands of emails. Even if they do look and find out, what are they gonna do? It just proves that their voting system doesn’t prevent spam-bots. (they should have some captcha installed =p)

It doesn’t matter if we get 1,000,000 votes or 100 votes. It’s not like we’re that materialistic about figures. (if you’re at the bottom of the list, does it mean that you’re a loser that no one supports you at all?) It is a nice feeling to hear people saying, “Hey, I’ve voted for you, everyday!”, to our team whenever they see us. Doesn’t really matter whether they really did vote everyday or not. (If they really do, thanks!) Now, feeling isn’t any number of votes can represent. =)

as long as you’ve got an email, you can vote again.

In the first place, are you allowed to vote more than once? Isn’t that considered cheating?
