It’s not a rumour that Dell will start to offer desktops/laptops running on Ubuntu 7.04 “Fiesty Fawn”. It’s coming to you next Thursday.

The confirmed date and eligible models aren’t out yet, but customers can expect their pre-load to include all the default software (including kernel and apps) from Ubuntu’s 7.04 “Feisty Fawn” media.

Dell will configure and install open-source drivers for the hardware when possible and when not, they will use partial open-source/closed-source drivers (includes Intel wireless cards and Conexant modem, but not limited to.).

Good news for Linux fans!

P.S Michael Dell is using Ubuntu too! I’ve got Ubuntu installed on my notebook too (Dual boot). I just don’t like Windows XP!
