According to news article on TheStar..
Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum said police would investigate the rap video while MCA Youth chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said Wee had insulted the national anthem.
“I’m simply reflecting the truth about our society through my music and I did not mean to offend anyone by producing such a video clip. I still love my country,†he (Wee Meng Chee) said.
- Agreed.
On his blog, Wee said he had removed the video from the website after receiving some negative reaction.
“I had to do it because my family was being pressured and I can’t be selfish by just thinking about myself,†he added.
His father, in an interview with Sin Chew Daily, defended his son’s patriotism as the student had insisted on taking along the Jalur Gemilang when he left for Taiwan to study.
- According to the video Namewee made, he said that students that graduated from Chinese Secondary (or High) Schools had problem entering local Universities. That’s why he went overseas. And he hopes to serve his country when he graduates.
Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur, Bernama reported that the police had no authority to investigate or detain individuals involved in broadcasting Wee’s Negaraku as it happened outside the country.
“The police can only take action if the incident occurs in the country,†Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Najib Abdul Aziz told reporters yesterday.
- We hope that’s the case.

I agreed with you on this.
I fully understand what he sing from his point of view. He is right, it is based on what is happening (facts).
If you notice, ministers only say he is not patriotic but so far not pointing out which part he sang is not correct.
Police part: fully agreed.
Govt servant part: fully agreed.
Education part: fully agreed.
(by fully agreed: i mean both in feeling and ‘general’ realities)
I guess the only part is religion part which some share different views. But even without singing this out, most of my friend share this same view (in heart). Why, because there is an element of “force” inside. For example, if you do not practice or disagree with the religion but you are force to hear it every morning. Because loud speaker is used, you can’t really escape from it. This is also facts.
For example, In University Malaya (1st college hostel, yr1992 - now may be different not sure), The speaker is just outside of one of my friend’s room, every morning 5.45am, the loud speaker activated with Full force for 5-10min. It is really like alarm clock.
Right, ycc.
I think he didn’t insult the religion, but just merely told us about the prayers in the morning but made it more interesting.
i agree that the song only portrays the reality here in Bolehland, however it irks me when the fella compares the azan subuh to some love duet. as a muslim, we never bising-bisng or kutuk kutuk other religion practice. we never bising2 when you play all those annoying mercun during CNY to ward off evil ghost or those temple bells toll everyday during sunset. true, there are a lot of taliban-minded ppl here in Bolehland….and i hate them. sorry to all non-Muslim who feels the azan subuh kacau your sleep. p/s: i’m a Chinese Muslim born fella.
