Yesterday (26th June 2007, US time) was the Day Of Silence for thousands of webcasters in the US. I tuned into 1.fm’s Top 40 online radio but the same lines were repeated for at least 30 minutes and that was when I found out that today (yesterday) is “Day Of Silence”!

On Tuesday, June 26, thousands of U.S.-based webcasters plan to turn off the music and go silent in a unified effort to draw attention to an impending royalty rate increase that, if implemented, would lead to the virtual shutdown of this country’s Internet radio industry.

dayofsilence_07.gif“Silence” may occur if extremely-high royalty rates are going to be charged. Most webcasters will go bankrupt if there’s a royalty hike. It’s that bad! I don’t think there’s anything much I can do coz I’m not in the states. But bloggers, please spread the word and let the whole world know. Don’t let music die!
