uTorrent

uTorrent is one of those torrent clients that are very small in terms of filesize. Note that uTorrent doesn’t support UDP trackers. According to uTorrent, there are many flaws with the UDP torrent spec and that’s why they’re not going to have the feature.

  1. Port for Incoming Connections. If you are behind a router/firewall, you have to configure your firewall/router to open the port value. If you’re using a router and don’t know how to forward your port, refer to this page. If you’re using a firewall, do figure this out yourself (Refer Help/FAQ for firewall). *Suggested value: 60000-65000 (Less Internet traffic rely on these ports, so it’s good to use them.)
  2.  Maximum Upload Rate.  Use torrent speed calculator to calculate.
  3.  Maximum Download Rate. Use torrent speed calculator to calculate.

  1. Global maximum number of connections. *Suggested value: 200-400 (Depending on how many download tasks you are going to run.)
  2. Maximum number of connected peers per torrent. *Suggested value: 50-100
  3. Untick Enable DHT Network and Enable DHT for new torrents. Unless the torrent task you’re downloading has no seeds at all, probably you can try this. But most likely it doesn’t help It’ll just slow down your download speed. So UNTICK it.
  4. Outgoing protocol encryption. Choose ”Forced” from the drop-down list. Unless there’s 1 or 2 seeds and you’re getting no traffic after 1 day, don’t disable that.

That’s about all for uTorrent. Remember, the settings are flexible. They may suit some users, and not all. Change them accordingly to recommended values.
