My NOT-to-do list!
I noticed there’s many things that I can have on my NOT-to-do list. They’ll take effect starting today; NOW!
- Do not e-mail first thing in the morning or last thing at night. My emails were checked usually at 7am, when I wake up and 1am, before I sleep. Now, no more.
- Do not agree to meetings or calls with no clear agenda or end time. You want my time right? Okay, tell me how long.
- Do not check e-mail constantly—“batch†and check at set times only. If I’m at work, emails will be checked at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. If not, they’ll be checked at other times with 2-3 hours interval between each check. After working hours, emails will be done at 10pm and 12am. That’s all. Emails after 12am will be considered “Next Business Day”.
- Do not carry a cellphone or Crackberry 24/7, seven days a week—make evenings and/or Saturdays digital leash-free. Correct! This must be followed. I will carry my mobile phone with me, but only certain people (listed below) will be entertained.
- Do not sleep later than 12am. This won’t be possible unless the little animal nags.
