friendster-malay

I guess the main reason why I don’t even step on Friendster is because this pisses me off. I find it really irritating when I have to switch to my own language everytime I visit the site (in the past), until one day I decided that I shouldn’t even bother looking at it.

I travel and stay around quite a fair bit between Singapore and Malaysia for the past few years. Recently, I was really disappointed by Singtel’s Mobile Broadband and that caused me not to be able to surf much in Singapore as I wasn’t  even able to multitask by surfing 2 websites at 1 go.  It’s that serious. Now I’ve got M1 Mobile Broadband, and it isn’t any better too. I’ll do a review about it another day — but you know it’s not going to be a good review. But seriously speaking, TMNet Streamyx performs way better than the damn Mobile Broadbands I got in terms of stability. Ok, thats not the point.

Speaking about languages, English has been my primary language since young and that makes Chinese my mother tongue. I don’t get to learn Malay (Or Bahasa) in school and thats why until today I’m no good at the language.

We’ve got facebook right now, and it’s doing way better in terms of surfing experience. Importantly, they don’t select a damn default language for me by my IP Address.

Good bye Friendster. Any other sites that make me read Malay as my default language, I’ll say good bye to you too. [Webmasters, get this into your brains please.]

Facebook - main

I decided to keep this entry’s title unrelated to Friendster. 4 years ago, I joined Friendster.

Comparing Friendster 4 years ago and now, I find that Friendster hasn’t changed much. Fans, Groups and Schools features were just implemented a few months ago. There’s less spam as compared to previously. BUT, the site hasn’t improved much. There’s nothing that can attract me to surf the site except to view when my friends are celebrating their birthdays. So I usually visit the main page and the page reflecting upcoming birthdays.

Facebook

Facebook is different. When I first saw facebook.com some time back, I thought the site would be something boring. There was only some text on the mainpage and nothing else. No photos at all! That was the reason I didn’t join.

Looking at facebook today, it’s really grown. I start to think of the future with facebook.

friendster vs facebook

Facebook will start to dominate all social networking sites like Friendster. Soon, matchmaking sites will be on facebook.

In time to come, after most people on the Internet has joined facebook, investigators (FBI?) may just pop onto facebook to find leads on all cases.

What else? Will facebook or Google know more about you?

My facebook account

facebook_full.pngYou can add me at [email protected]. The picture on the left is to show how attractive the site is. Discover it yourself.

I don’t frequent facebook as much as I visit Google as I find facebook too addictive with all the invitations for the different apps designed by facebookers.

Friends out there, not a facebook members yet? Join now and discover your friends!

Have fun!

A day ago, I posted an entry with title “Beware of this guy from Friendster…”, remember? If you don’t, its okay. If you do and you’re now looking for it – don’t bother, I’ve scheduled it for deletion.

As according to comments by several readers (DK, marina, xizor2000, wd, hendri, Adolf), their advise was to remove the entry as the accuracy of the data was unable to be verified.

Will update with regards to the entry when I get my data right.

Apologies, once again.

Updated on 29 November 2012: I received an email from a person with sufficient evidence to proof that this is not a true story and was a sabotage.
