Don’t find it weird that I’m writing this kind of topics. Nothing so interesting about my life, except meeting cute little Virginia (actually to get back my iPod nano, but she forgot) for dinner today!

I missed out this entry on Blog Action Day, which was more than a week ago. But nevermind, here’s part 1 of ”How to make the world a better place”!

Reduce, reuse & recycle

Plastic bags (some call it plastic carriers) is what you can start to reduce and reuse from today onwards. I’ll show you some ways I applied it in my life!

Reduce - How do I do it?

paperbag.jpgWhen I buy breakfast, the aunties will put my snack in a small paper-bag and will eventually give me a plastic bag to hold the paper-bag. Usually I will reject the plastic bag and hold the paper-bag with the top folded so that no dust can get in.

At Old Chang Kee, the aunties don’t mind giving me more paper-bags to hold my different snacks, but again, I will remind them to put them in the same bag. There was once I got a reply: “Oh, paper bags we can give you more. Very cheap one.” Eh, it’s not about being cheap or not. It’s being environmentally friendly!

When visiting supermarkets or shopping malls, I try to decrease the number of plastic bags I hold on my hands. If I’ve got a bag, I will just keep my receipt and have the items in my bag. If the items are small enough, I’ll keep them in my pocket. Remember, keep your receipt so as not to get into any trouble with the security.

That’s about all for reducing!

Reuse

It’s not hard at all to reuse plastic bags.

I usually will use the bags to line rubbish bins. If the rubbish in the bin are all dry, nothing disgusting, I will just pour all the junk down the chute.

Hey, is it hard to reuse a plastic bag?

Recycle

This is not going to be easy.

Usually we don’t recycle plastic bags, do we?

But here’s something I do. I prefer using plastic bags that are biodegradable. I see some stores using them. They’re of equal quality, actually. Just abit ‘harder’ in texture. When I use these plastic bags, I will not feel bad when I dump them coz I know they’ll degrade sometime soon, in 2 years?

So, this is the part I play to make the world a better place. Have you anything to share?

The Great Singapore Sale (GSS) 2007 is here! Spend, spend, spend!

What am I going to buy

  • Gifts (in advance)
  • Accessories for my iPod Nano (If I see any that I need)
  • Good food (Sale or not, still must eat!)
  • More clothes? (I don’t see a need, but if it attracts me, why not?)

What else?

  • Watsons is offering Evening Primrose & Extrim at a discount, but I don’t need them at all
  • TAKA Jewelery is offering jewels at a discount, but I don’t need them at the moment (I’m not getting married so soon)
  • apc.sg is offering web hosting at a lower price, but I’ve got mine already from SKYDIO! (Proven to be stable – 99.9% uptime for few months already.)
  • THEFACESHOP offering 10% discount but I don’t need anything there.

Damn it. MasterCard is the official partner for The Great Singapore Sale 2007, but my mum’s supplementary card for me is a VISA. *sobs*
