Lately, I watched several videos on metacafe having guides on battery hacks! That brought out the curiousity in me and I decided to try it out myself.
I looked around my home and found one 6 volts lantern battery. Just nice, there was a video done up last week. I got a scissors to open the top cover.
Sad enough, there was no 32 AA batteries. Crap. Look at the photos below.
The batteries are NOT size C, neither are they size C!
Anyone also tried the unreal ‘hack’ and would like to share your experience? Did you get 32 AA batteries?

I got 4 D cell batteries
Until someone uses the same exact battery in the video you can’t really call this a “fake” hack. Misguiding, yeah but I wouldn’t say fake.
Different companies will most likely make their batteries in different ways, so there might be only one brand out there that has the AA’s.
Even if it does turn out that this is 100% fake, I like to think we all had a little fun didn’t we???
Alright, I’ll call it misleading!
I had fun trying out different tools to open the cover!
It’s fake. This is the exact same battery from Walgreen’s. http://www.flickr.com/photos/58088303@N00/1427218268/in/photostream/
I got 4 D batteries from a Duracel 6v. Problem is one 6 volt is more expensive than 4 D batteries.
I tried the hack on an Eveready 6V.
Actually, I’m unsure if it’s D batteries as they’re already rusty.
I wouldn’t buy a new 6V to try the hack again as I agree with you that 4 D are cheaper than a 6V!
actually this is a confirmed hoax. here is a web site with someone who bought the exact same battery as the one shown in the video from walgreens. haha its a good thing i decided to research it more before i went out and bought it for my xbox controllers.

The batteries inside the 6volt lantern cells are the fabled B cells. they do exist, and there they are. Now what happened to A?
If you look at the video again you will see that the AA batteries are not hooked up in any way as they are poured out of the 6 volt casing. No wires or connecting leads. To get 6 volts out of 32 AA batteries you would have to wire them in 4 banks of 8 batteries each. I would like to know how this story got started.
If any one realizes that its a duracell batery that they used, try doing it right and you will get the true out come. Duh?
